The problems with Bluesky are true with every other platform. It's not that it's a bubble, though. It's that people feel a desire to protect a place they like.

what ablebodied ppl don’t rly get is that visible disability doesn’t mean a world that has failed to “cure” it, but a world where disabled people are given the equity and resources to BE AND BE TREATED LIKE PEOPLE
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

You will observe the same in right wing political circles - what they crave is not permission to do the thing (the kind of person doing this - typically ablebodied cishet white male - has precious few restrictions on their behavior) but validation that it is a good thing to have done.

Ablebodied is a temporary condition for everyone.
Disability is the only marginalisation that literally anyone can become part of at any time. Catering for disabled folks and making things accessible helps EVERYONE

If you have privilege; white, cisgender, straight-passing, ablebodied, whatever– Be aware of the threat to minoritised people and try to get between them and anyone who wants to do harm

I think a lot about how fascism is about holding up one idealized way of having a body: white, Christian, thin, ablebodied, cishet and genderconforming, etc - and oppressing or killing everyone who doesn't fit into that ideal.

But it's not a math problem. Different sets of identities exhibit pull on each other so that even an "oppressive" identity (white, man, upper class, ablebodied) produces unique types of violence-- a Black ablebodied trans man is experiencing manhood differently from a white disabled cis man
