Best improvement in housing affordability in 40 years

What an ass J.D. Vance is. He’s asked the most basic question about housing affordability, and he can’t even pretend to take it seriously.
Q: How do you expect us to start families young when the average price of a home feels out of reach?

JD VANCE: I want to point out that I've only gotten one question about Jon Husted's ass

Trump doesn't want to talk about affordability. He wants to talk about his arts & crafts and home renovation projects.

Seriously, though. I’d much rather have more affordability than another damn TV.

My closing issue is what’s on every Alaskan’s mind and has been at the forefront of this campaign since the very beginning – affordability.

If Donald Trump chooses to veto our popular, pro-affordability policies, the fight is far from over. We'll run on them in 2028 and pass them in 2029.

Zocalo asked me to write about affordability rhetoric. I learned a lot and wrote too much. After they cut 3k words (lol/cry) this is basically a rhetorician's take on the affordability crisis.

"In today’s political discourse “affordability” is another (perhaps less obviously strident) way to say that for a lot of people (maybe most), capitalism feels broken."

Trump says the affordability crisis is a “hoax” made up by Democrats.🙄
Are you fucking kidding me?!

This doesn’t even include dental. WTF.

Affordability is something that has to be mixed into the concrete
Not everyone can afford new market-rate units, but many people can!

If you don't build new market-rate housing, those of us who can't afford it then have to compete with those who could for *existing* homes on the market.

Guess what that does to the price of the existing housing supply?

One of the most effective ways to help relieve the affordability crisis is a working-class tax cut. We need to elect leaders who are committed to passing it.

Trump officials say tonight they'll release detailed plans on Friday for Tom Fazio's makeover of Washington's East Potomac golf course.

Then the course will close Nov. 15, and its longtime operator will cease operating it.

I worry about the nearly complete focus on affordability
I worry about the strategy depending so much on 'affordability'. it's not like, if Dems win the midterms, they are going to be able to just magically arrest inflation and get us back to happy happy joy joy time.

my concern is that we may have 2 more years of pain and voters penalize Dems in 2028.
Trump failed to stop inflation. Now Republicans may pay the price in the midterm elections
One week before midterm elections, President Donald Trump is struggling to deliver on his promise to bring down costs.
