my latest thesis is that the neo-brandesians hate cities because they view the density of cities as a form of geospatial monopoly.

yes, I know this makes zero sense on a policy level, but I’m just trying to deduce why a movement allegedly devoted to trust busting is obsessed with fighting YIMBYs

The problem with connecting all of the worlds people together is that some of them are bigots and supremacists, and some of them are victims and targets, and the former are much more difficult to deal with when you agglomerate them together in groups

I think forcing them to not use diesel except as emergency backup is a good demand. But the sight is an abandoned mall right next to the beltway, something only scouted out because data centers want to agglomerate around the DC area fiber optic cables & most of Loudoun real estate is already claimed

Something we have to reckon with is the possibility fascism isn’t some aberrant and exceptional political movement, but is instead inherent to a facet of the human condition and that requires nonstop vigilance to ensure that it doesn’t flare out of control whenever enough haters agglomerate together
Sometimes it feels like we have all of these discussions about what Democrats are doing wrong and who should do what and when and how, and maybe this fight is hard because it is never easy, and it will never really stop, only slow, only sleep.

like dont just crash into someones life and go "hey are you trans" but like quite frankly if you feel you got a strong case for someone you know (and trust me, if youre trans you WILL eventually run into someone; we agglomerate like oil in water) then you owe it to them to at least poke at the topic

and, fatally, it has allowed the deeply stupid to agglomerate together and tell themselves they’re the smart ones, really

If you agglomerate enough power in one place then any make-believe world feels like an actual reality

The inherently fuzzy associative pseudologic of LLMs dangles the promising question of "...but what if it could?"

A silicon God of the Gaps that might could kinda one day somehow sort of randomly agglomerate enough meaning-like static to produce what looks like a synthesis of ideas, if you squint.

Power is stored in associations of people. By regimenting social clades through digital social sorting, various actors have been able to use these systems to circumscribe and agglomerate new collections of power.

The whole point of cities is that they agglomerate lots of amenities and opportunities in a single place.

The only reason anyone would like a "gritty" city full of dirt and vice is that they want *other* people not to enjoy those same amenities and hope the grit will chase those others away.
like seriously, the romanticization of "grit" is bad, it's bad for liberalism and it's bad for people and it's bad for families.

This is wrong - Roberts’ 20 year project is to agglomerate power to SCOTUS. Trump v. US is where he misstepped; he thought he was ruling “SCOTUS gets to decide if the Pres did something criminal,” but Trump (rightly) understands it as “the law does not apply to the Pres.”

Arthur's Seat is a much older (340 Ma) volcano than the Roman ones I'm used to dealing with (600 - 36 Ka), but it's glorious - every city should have one (the extincter the better...)

Geologically, the Col du VAM deposits are best described as a sedimentary mélange, a poorly sorted, polymict (i.e., with elements of varied composition) and poorly stratified (i.e., layered) agglomerate.

For the new people:

My bio here on bluesky lists “Hēoweorðan” as a pronoun. It’s an agglomerate (compound) Old English (Anglo-Saxon) word meaning "She [is] becoming", which also means "She [is (infinitive) a] witch". It shares a Proto-Indo-European root with Wyrd, and the Norse Urðr

From combustion experiments in space we know that the generated combustion products tend to agglomerate into larger particles in microgravity than they do on earth, and water's surface tension is enough to trap particulates ... so maybe you'd just get dirty water?
