Day one of yet another #AGoodLifeWithDementia course in #eastriding started today. As ever- nervous, joyous, insightful, shared learning amongst peers with dementia. Just brilliant. This is the ‘backbone of the recovery model!’

'Dementia is constantly waiting for the next word to disappear' (esp when out and about) Such an eloquent description of personal reality of what dementia means
this from the latest #AGoodLifeWithDementia course in rural coastal Withernsea.
Shared learning amongst peers.

A few pearls from day 1 of #AGoodLifeWithDementia in Brough East Yorks. J: it was, ‘nice to open up and not feel stupid and not be laughed at… we often get defensive but it’s been nice to be with normal people!’
Such a privilege once again, to witness people with dementia coming together for the first time feeling safe to pipe up without feeling stupid or that they'll be interrupted or corrected or struggle to get the right words out - a space to get a word in edgeways! @louiseheatley.bsky.social
