again, the outbreak was not caused by anything taco bell was doing and the only reason they were "tied" to it was that they were the first to discover it and publicly act on it

this is some spanish flu level bullshit propaganda on the part of the big agribusiness who actually caused this.

For his fourth term, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva must contend with a strengthened far-right presence in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, where lawmakers largely support agribusiness interests.

Lula won reelection, but Brazil’s powerful agribusiness lobby could still threaten the Amazon. Five firms control over half of Brazil’s soy exports; 3 dominate beef exports.

What Brazil’s Elections Mean for Agribusiness and the Amazon
Agribusiness is one of the most powerful political forces in Brazil. They did not want Lula to win last weekend, but they still have power in Congress to push for deforestation.

"Brusselse ambtenaren weten dit natuurlijk. Ze haten het. Elke keer als de begroting moet worden uitonderhandeld maken zij voorstellen om minder landbouwfondsen aan de agribusiness te geven en meer aan kleine boeren die het wél nodig hebben. Maar zulke hervormingen komen er nooit door."

The science around carbon farming – the notion that carbon can be stored in farmland to offset fossil fuel emissions – is equally sketchy, but heavily funded and promoted by agribusiness. We need real cuts to emissions, not offset schemes dreamed up by and for corporations.

She reminds me of a primary race a few years ago. The *Dem* race was between an agribusiness CEO, a guy who outright said he was a Republican who no longer felt welcome in his party, and a guy *no one* could find any information other than what he had to submit to get on the primary ballot.

Lula’s win is huge, but he’ll be dealing with a heavily right wing, pro-agribusiness Congress for who are happy to undermine the Amazon and Indigenous rights for profit.

For Indigenous peoples in Brazil, the election results offer a reprieve — not a resolution
Lula’s reelection kept an ally in the presidency, but a rightward shift in Congress leaves Indigenous leaders facing more battles.

No evangelical voter would ever vote for a Democrat, though, so the lip service to them is completely wasted on them.

If you were the head of marketing for an agribusiness specializing in meat and dairy, would you waste time and money making ads for vegans?
They also refuse to consider WHERE our nominees are running. In Texas and Iowa, for example, even a progressive has to pay a certain amount of lip service to evangelical voters. No Democrat would EVER vote for a gender affirmative ban.
