“…return the five-percent preferential loans from the Ministry of Agriculture for the purchase of agricultural machinery (currently the rate on such loans is 12.5%)…”

The government needs to cut spending, this would increase it

‼️ “…In addition, according to him, it is necessary not only to reduce rates on preferential loans, but also to ensure that agricultural producers can actually receive such loans from banks.”

Because, in reality, some of these things aren’t actually available.

Administration tries to cut off federal childcare program for low-income working parents, loans for small businesses, agricultural programs for Minnesotans

Instead sends 1000s of armored, armed secret police who recklessly speed without sirens, point guns at everyone, & kill

This is damaging waste

- excessively high key rate of the Central Bank, making loans inaccessible for farmers.

- low incomes of remaining uneducated foreign agricultural workers, preventing them from updating equipment.

State regulation of prices for basic products needs to be reinstated, said Sergey Mironov. He stated that subsidies and preferential loans for agricultural producers should be maintained simultaneously.

The slide back to the Soviet empire continues unabated.

“According to Mr. Babansky, the decline in the agricultural machinery market was also driven by high financing costs, which made loans and leasing unaffordable for many farmers, especially small and medium-sized businesses, as well as by reduced government support at the federal & regional levels….”

In Russia, the forecast for the wheat harvest was reduced by 3 million tons to 78 million.
The bonds of Rosselkhozbank, which is 100% state-owned, collapsed and give a yield of 40%
I wonder at what rate the bank gives loans to agricultural producers? There are huge problems in Russian agriculture!

This is very good from Conor McCabe and one of the few piece's of analysis I have read that clearly links the fuel protests with Ireland's deeply unequal and dysfunctional grass-fed agricultural system.

“The reasons for the decline were the rise in the cost of loans and the introduction of digital systems for recording land and agricultural products, the ministry said.”

There were more reasons than this, as I’ve discussed multiple times.

In 2025 alone, agricultural loans have already reached 34.6 billion UAH (€732 billion) under various programs.

On April 28, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy launched an investment portfolio of agricultural enterprises to attract foreign capital.

“If next year’s bad (for Mississippi cotton farmers), we’re going to start talking bankruptcies—which means time to pay off those loans to the bank … liquidating equipment, land and so forth," says Will Maples, an agricultural economist with the Mississippi State University Extension Service.

HOWEVER…

“in reality, the funds are not used for agricultural development, but rather to finance bank loans, and do little to address the sector's problems”

(I actually didn't know this till I was 17 and working for an agricultural loans company! I dealt with a LOT A LOT A LOT of farmers VERY UNHAPPY about the meager lease payments they received from energy companies for the loss of agricultural land, but if O&G wants to drill, they drill.)

We wouldn’t need farm loans from our tax dollars if the Republicans hadn’t let Trump destroy our agricultural markets. F’ farmers and ranchers who voted for the R’s in 2024.

I don’t know if people realize that farmers are still receiving crop insurance subsidies, commodity payments, some conservation money, and access to loans & disaster payments, but everyone should know this and act accordingly.
Agricultural exceptionalism is alive and well in Amurika still.

With rising production costs and low sale prices profitability for farmers dropped from 40-50% in 2020 to 15-16% in 2025. Also the high interest made leasing and taking out loans to buy agricultural equipment unprofitable especially for SMEs.
