#PatoJoyuyo. Un recuerdo de este verano, no siempre tenemos tiempo de publicar en el momento lo que vemos así que de vez en cuando hay que rescatar alguna cosilla. Verano 2025, una especie exotica, que se cree q procedía de algún escape. #aixsponsa #aves #birds

I'd never seen a duck away from water 😭 it WAS raining, though.

OTD in '20- always impressed by wood duck coloration- especially in the bleak, muddy, winter/spring transition.

A mama wood duck in the water. She is swimming from left to right. The duck is mostly brown with a mottled breast. It has a large white eye ring and a black eye. There is also white right behind her short black beak, on her neck, and at the edge of the wing.

Another nesting season for #woodduck #aixsponsa #wodu and #hoodedmerganser #lophodytescucullatus #home is chugging along at Huntley Meadows Park. We have 4 boxes with clutches incubating, and eggs in another 4 boxes. Box #62 (pictured) was replaced this year […]

Reposting some of my birbs into one eclectic flock:
-2013 #Hummingbird visiting Fuchsia,
-2015 Crested Caracara, #crestedcaracara #Caracaracheriway,
-2018 Three Ballpoint Bird Requests ( #eagle, #bluejay, and #sparrow ),
-2018 Wood ducks, #woodduck #Aixsponsa.

An ink drawing of a hummingbird visiting a fuchsia flower. The linework is blue ballpoint pen, the color is very liquid-y highlighters, and the areas of lighting are white gel pen; done on bluish-purple cardstock. A drawing of a crested caracara flying above some water. Left a lot of negative space in this one, and added yellow and blue contour cloudy lines to compliment the purple used in the bird. Pen drawings of three birds requested by IG followers in 2018. Art was done in a sketchbook and with BIC multicolor pens. An eagle flies toward the top-right corner of the page, colors mostly black and dark blue with a touch of light blue. The underside of the eagle is viewed, much like looking up at circling vultures silhouetted in the sky. A blue jay sits on a tree branch, somewhat central in the art, colors mostly dark blue and light blue. The jay sits with its back to the viewer, looking back over its right shoulder. A (brave) sparrow stands to the right of the blue jay on the same branch, colors mostly light green and dark green with a touch of light blue. The sparrow attempts to puff up, wings raised in a threatening manner, at the jay to spook it off. There is a large tree branch that stretches from the bottom right corner of the art and stretches over to the left edge of the page, it gradients from light green to light blue, and ends in a big leafy bunch on the left side. The rest of the page was left white. A drawing of a wood duck couple swimming beside each other; the female is in the top-left facing left, and the male is in the bottom-right facing right. It's a pretty standard ducks-on-water piece, accurate colours, and my additional (but usual) contour line usage.

This Wood Duck was enjoying a swim in Cazenovia Creek with her 10 ducklings. Unlike most ducks, these birds nest in tree cavities. They also readily use nest boxes. #woodduck #aixsponsa #waterfowl #buffalo #buffalony #eriecounty #wny

An update on nesting season for #woodduck #aixsponsa #wodu and #hoodedmerganser #lophodytescucullatus #HOME at Huntley Meadows Park: 4 boxes have hatched out; 5 boxes have clutches that are incubating. Box #7 (pictured) hatched and fledged an estimated 13 #home ducklings, leaving 1 egg unhatched.
The remains of a successful nest: duck down, eggshell fragments, and one unhatched egg.
