Have other #pwME #pwLC experienced akathisia after stopping LDN? Even titrating down, noctural akathisia has been intense. I reached 0mg last night and had awful wiredness insomnia for six hours. I can’t find much on this in forums or papers. 1/2

akathisia (a couple people asked haha): basically a physical inability to remain still. moving is compulsive, and often frantic; the need to move is intense and distressing. people end up pacing for hours on end. it can lead to a feeling of impending doom. antipsychotics are a particular trigger

i think the best way to describe akathisia is that it's VERY similar to severe nausea. it's like a full body rejection of your own full body. like having ants crawling both inside and outside your skin. it's torture! it can lead to suicidal ideation in very short periods of time unfortunately

i’m not going to find out any more about jordan peterson, but if he did get off benzos in 2020 and has new onset akathisia in 2026… he either did not get off benzos in 2020 or he switched to something else, an antipsychotic probably.

Alas, akathisia came for me (~25% side-effect) and it's a lot more of a nuisance than I was expecting. Been advised to stop taking it and the akathisia should settle over several days. There's plans for moving forward after. We'll see how the next one goes.
Psych appointment today. Fingers crossed new meds treat me well.

I'm okay for now. No aneurysm, but temporal arteritis may still be a possibility, but he said it is unlikely. I'm following up with my neurologist to find out what's going on with my body. It has been pretty brutal.

I’m being sent to the ER because they’re worried about symptoms that I’m having right now. There’s a small bulge at my left temple that is causing me pretty intense pain and it’s in a bad spot. They want to rule out something serious.

i thought he conquered his benzo addiction in 2020 when he went to russia to be put into a medically induced coma during withdrawal. the problem they’re talking about now is akathisia, a side effect that can linger after meds are stopped although 6 years later doesn’t really track for a typical case

apparently about a quarter of people with schizophrenia have chronic akathisia, which is AWFUL?? anyway it really, really really sucks lmao. probably my least favorite common side effect of my meds after severe nausea (although...there are similarities in the full body sensation of NOPE lmao)
