Eh ben bon dieu, j'ai bien fait de descendre avec l'ouvre bocal de mamie, parce que c'était salement hermétique, leurs récipients. Y avait de tout. Des chevrettes, des pots à canon, des albarello. Toute la gamme du parfait petit apothicaire.

Ceramic history. Spain 14th c. Tin-glazed albarello (pharmacy jar). British Museum G.585. Cylindrical storage jars for compact storage, usually a bit concave so you can get your fingers in between them on a shelf. Thick rim so you can tie on a parchment or leather top. Often has pharmacy logo.
Upright cylindrical ceramic jar with a smaller neck and thickened rim. White tin-glaze ground with blue and brown brushwork decoration.

Collected this albarello from the kiln and it’s a reasonable success, I think, although not as nice as I’d imagined in my head (but then what ever is?) #pottery #ceramics
An albarello - an apothecary jar, about 20cm tall, with a rounded top/bottom and slightly narrower waist. It is made of a warm buff-coloured clay, decorated with white slip and black brush marks and coated with transparent glaze.
