I think this is Alyxoria (Opegrapha) xerica; a southern coastal lichen of old Oaks & Yews; on an ancient Yew in the churchyard of C12 St Bartholomew's, a church in the middle of the countryside, far from the village, near the C17 Albourne Place, where Archbishop Juxon hid during the Commonwealth

The Low Weald of Sussex is not as well known as the South Downs & High Weald; but it has much ancient woodland & many ancient hedgerows. In this footpath hedgerow in Albourne nr. Hurstpierpoint, there were 3 veteran Pedunculate Oaks (listed in the Woodland Trust ATI) and a Midland Hawthorn in bud.

The Low Weald of Sussex is not as well known as the South Downs & High Weald; but it has much ancient woodland & many ancient hedgerows. In this footpath hedgerow in Albourne nr. Hurstpierpoint, there were 3 veteran Pedunculate Oaks (listed in the Woodland Trust ATI) and a Midland Hawthorn in bud.
In the last week, first swallows seen, woodpeckers in abundance, chiff chaffs, mistle thrush, song thrush, yellow hammer and all the usuals heard in Albourne.

A tiny place called Albourne on a tomb - it was actually recorded there over 30 years ago so was pleased to find it still - same tomb. Only other place I’ve found it is in the Rock gardens in central Brighton on natural limestone. But yes not common.
