Fantastic to see more new draft histories coming from @wiltshistory.bsky.social. I recall being once asked by a local councillor "but what has the VCH ever done for the people of Alderbury?", so I'm glad that the project finally has an adequate riposte for him. Hope the people of Alderbury enjoy it!

Looking at parish council minutes for Alderbury, Wilts where there were complaints in 1906 !!! about the ‘danger’ caused by ‘the rapid driving of motor cars’ 🚗 It would take another 70 years for a bypass to be built. 🚙

My latest draft for the VCH is online.
Always fun to collaborate with @markforrest.bsky.social.
It was very tricky (in parts) to write but having a fab medievalist like Mark on hand helped. Ta Mark!!! Thanks also to @johnhchandler.bsky.social & Mary Sirault. Our drafts are always group efforts.
