In the language settings, not every language I speak is listed. Does that mean posts in Cebuano won't appear in my feed because the algorithm suppresses them from accounts I don't follow? What the actual fuck?

on the rare occasion I open twitter I am always shocked by how openly mean the algorithm has made everyone. I don't regret leaving

ANY offhand comment now gets picked up by the algorithm and becomes a Valid Opinion. Even worse, this has elevated takes to the status of Content, like fanart, fics, etc.
This is a HORRIBLE dynamic for fandoms to have. Takes should NEVER be treated with such gravitas.

I think there's probably a large aspect of this that is algorithm and bot reinforced. It's not an issue of a vocal minority anymore, it's just that very powerful companies specifically search out that minority and give them megaphones.

Threads used to have a much better algorithm, it felt like one big group chat before it got enshitified in late October. Bluesky needs a recommendation algorithm similar to early Threads.

My YT lead me to a guy last week mixing white Red Bull, espresso, some kind of salt and pre workout mix, he said it was the closest feeling he’s ever had to doing coke..I’ve never done coke and don’t drink coffee or Red Bull..not sure why this is in my algorithm lol

Because it's popular enough that there's a social and financial incentive to being maximally contradictory, at least within our circles. It's why I don't click on videos that don't have much to say. Just encourages the algorithm on Youtube to feed me more of the same, making it look ubiquitous.
