Love Remembered, Love Awaited

If you have friends or relatives that are alone this holiday, please check on them and give them some love. It might mean everything to them.

A tender, realistic interior scene set on Christmas evening. A kindly elderly woman sits alone at a long, vintage wooden dining table inside a softly lit dining room. Her posture is gentle but slightly stooped, her expression calm yet wistful—eyes reflecting patience, memory, and hope. She wears a simple cardigan and blouse, neat but modest, as if she dressed carefully just in case someone might see her. At the far end of the table sits a small tabletop Christmas tree, modestly decorated with tiny multicolored lights and a few handmade ornaments. The lights glow softly, casting warm reflections across the polished wood and faint shadows along the walls. In front of the woman is a microwave dinner on a plain tray—plastic lid peeled back—steam just fading. The food is untouched or barely eaten. Beside her plate rests an old cordless VOIP phone, placed deliberately within reach, angled toward her chair, silently waiting. Its screen is dark. The room is clean but sparsely decorated: a lace runner, a framed family photo on a sideboard, a single candle burning low. Outside the window, night has fully fallen—cool blue tones contrast with the warm amber interior light. Lighting is soft and cinematic, with gentle grain and shallow depth of field. The mood is quiet, intimate, and deeply human—melancholy without despair. The image conveys love remembered, family absent, and the fragile hope that the phone might still ring.

Maybe it's the post-wedding, why am I always single at weddings blues. Maybe I am just a bit lonely this Christmas. Or maybe I am missing someone specific?
