#amenorrhea
Casey’s proud pronouncement is especially funny because there’s this thing called amenorrhea where women don’t have menstrual cycles.

Whoops, I Missed the Negative Pregnancy Test

I picked the wrong answer because I missed that a urine pregnancy test was already negative. Here’s the case and where I went wrong.

My first real job (in ‘79) was paying group healthcare claims for Prudential. Once I figured things out, I started adding the diagnosis code for amenorrhea to women’s annual GYN exam claims so they’d be reimbursed for them. This is of course way before the ACA. Never got caught!

I remember when my belly was unbelievably swollen from my chronic illness, and I also had a traumatic very long bout of amenorrhea from PMOS where I thought I was FINALLY pregnant again after years, and after I gushed I went to the OBGYN for tests... and someone asked when I was due.

Actually no. Starvation in women is known amenorrhea, specifically hypothalamic amenorrhea. The body becomes selective on what is needed and those that are not while fighting for life. Women who are in the throes of anorexia nervosa suffer the same hypothalamic amenorrhea.

PMDD sucks and until I experienced 18 months without it bc of pregnancy & breastfeeding amenorrhea, I honestly don't know if I realized how badly it was f*cking with my life. My whole body feels like it's full of bees, including my brain, which feels more like murder hornets.
Lord, have mercy on me!

Hey, I'm finally bleeding again. I had to change medicines but I refuse to go back to that GP.
I started bleeding last month and immediately spent three days getting leaks from how much I was bleeding. This is after nine months of amenorrhea and is exactly what it was like previously.
Think my art is good but your ideas are better? This is YOUR chance to prove it!! Sato Boke's commissions are officially open!

Off the top of my head this includes:

- people using hormonal IUDs, which cause amenorrhea but do not change the underlying hormonal cycle
- trans mascs who have enough T to stop bleeding but still have other menstrual symptoms
- trans femmes who have the hormonal cycle but no uterus

I know it causes amenorrhea, that wasn't the question. The question was whether you still have all the other monthly menstrual cycle symptoms, the way you do with an IUD, or if it alters your hormones enough for that to go away.

It's NOT pertinent to the school. If they have problems caused by amenorrhea, it's pertinent to their physician, still NOT pertinent to school. This is something the physician & patient should be concerned about if they desire a pregnancy.

Today's theme of the day is "Amenorrhea from testosterone is not sufficient for contraception if your partner produces sperm."

Key signs for identifying drug users:

In the case of methamphetamine: in women, these hormonal changes cause irregular cycles, amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), or heavy bleeding. It also has profound effects on reproductive health.

If a "trans woman" seeks medical advice because of primary amenorrhea I suggest reading a school biology book about human reproduction and female anatomy.

Which also to be clear my mom is pretty progressive for a good Catholic woman! My dad isn't Catholic, my mom is pro-LGBTQ, when I had to go on hormonal birth control as a teen for amenorrhea she was cool with it...she just also loves her saints and the Big JC 👼

I had mild PCOS before the Depakote but it appeared to worsen my PCOS ⬇️ (more severe symptoms and years later it was a massive ruptured cyst that led to emergency surgery in ‘14 and loss of an ovary). I also gained 30 pounds in 2 weeks while at a very image conscious school nicknamed “J Crew U.”😒

Meet Saffron: The restorer
Tiny yet precious, saffron, also known as Zanghonghua, has long been treasured in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for helping the body relieve stagnation and regain its natural rhythm. In TCM, saffron is traditionally used to activate blood circulation, dispel blood stasis and calm the mind. It is often chosen when discomfort is linked to "stagnation," whether that means lingering bruises, amenorrhea or emotional distress.
