AotY list pt 9:
Very different releases in theory (one being atmo black, one progressive rock), but they do have some commonality. Both are ambitious concept albums (with Amiensus being a two parter) and both offer inspired instrumentation with noteworthy songwriting. Also, amazing art. #MetalSky

I'm right there with you, but thankfully some seriously good anti-fascist black metal exists and I am totally here for it. Dawn Treader, Spectral Wound, and Seth all released some awesome albums this year.
Some great sketch-free releases from Folterkammer, Selbst, Necrophobic, and Amiensus as well.

Also, I think he did better than "decent". His vocals create a beautiful atmosphere & perfectly capture the spirit & message of the song. Bittersweet, melancholy, lilting.
@nocleansinging.bsky.social described his vocals as "absolutely captivating clean vocals reminiscent of Amiensus at their best"

@nocleansinging.bsky.social compared @loachy16.bsky.social's clean vocals to Amiensus on this song, which is just an absolute winning comparison in my book
I couldn't be more proud to be part of this milestone for Alex and can't wait to do more of it

The first track I've recorded that's mostly clean vocals! There's still a bit of the screamy stuff near the end but not much.
Very proud of this one.
If you use Spotify, please chuck this on your playlist and help us get it over the 1000 play threshold.

This was very much an unplanned rant, so I am aware I failed to mention some other vital, code foundations of the genre. Fleurety, Ved Buens Ende, Age of Silence, Unexpect
As well as some other current bands keeping the fire burning, including Amiensus; Hail Spirit Noir; In Vain (to some extent))
