Announcement time: as you may know, for a few years my wife and I have been creating audio tours of destinations in Andalucía using a great app called VoiceMap.

It’s been going really well, so we’ve decided to branch out with a website for visitors to Andalucía. It’s called Andalucía Bound.

Our Cádiz-bound coach, every seat taken, makes a spot-on punctual departure from Malaga’s bus station, meanders around the palm-tree-filled intersections, and accelerates west on the Avenida Andalucía. #ContinentHop24

The feedback has been great, and we love making the tours, which is why we recently branched out into the Andalucia Bound website.

We have done an article on Andalucía’s mountains. The geology of Andalucía is pretty complex, but essentially there are two main systems of mountain ranges: the Sierra Morena in the north, and the Baetic System south of the Guadalquivir valley.

Andalucía’s complex and highly mountainous geography is due to its position on the boundary of the Eurasian and African tectonic plates.

We’ve added a first driving route to our Andalucía Bound website. It’s a route we know really well, between Cordoba and Granada. As well as the beautiful scenery, it takes you past various picturesque villages and medieval castles.
We’ve just published a new itinerary on our website, and this one’s a bit different. The ones we’ve done before are all about the destinations and what you can do there. This one, on the other hand, is all about the journey. It’s our first driving itinerary, but it won’t be our last.

This driving route takes you through a mountainous area that was contested for hundreds of years, which explains why there are so many castles.

Thread about Andalucía's pre-Roman (pre)history, with information about where you can still see traces of the region's earliest cultures. In part thanks to the dry climate, some finds have been amazingly well preserved.

There's a more detailed account on the Andalucía Bound website.
In the “Andalucía In Depth” section of our website, we have articles on various subjects relating to Andalucía’s history, culture and geography. One of them provides an introduction to Andalucía’s history before the Romans arrived.

Three weeks ago, we had an amazing time in Jerez and Sanlucar, and we've now done a thread on what to do and see in Jerez, as well as writing it up as a day trip on our Andalucía Bound website.
New Day Trip Itinerary – Jerez de la Frontera

Best-known internationally for its sherry and dancing horses, Jerez de la Frontera is one of the cradles of flamenco. We recently attended an absolutely outstanding flamenco performance during the Festival de Jerez.

Some itineraries focus on the most-visited cities, while others are thematic. They range from day trips to a 13-night adventure down the length of the River Guadalquivir.

So far, we have 18 itineraries, but we’ll be adding more all the time, including some different types of journey.

In addition, the website has information about all of our audio tours, including which ones go with which itineraries and destinations.

That’s where we hope the website pays for itself – we’ve made the conscious (perhaps foolhardy) decision not to have any external advertising.

We’re adding new material to the Andalucía Bound website all the time, and one of our latest articles is a brief introduction to the geography of Andalucía. In due course we’ll write about specific aspects of Andalucía’s geography – it’s mountains, coast and rivers – but first, an overview.

1/
Geography of Andalucía – Andalucía Bound
Andalucía's landscape ranges from the windswept sandy beaches of Cádiz to the rocky peaks of the Sierra Nevada. This is matched by extremes of climate.

on second thought i think any variety with [ʃ] is bound to have [h] rather than [x]: [x] is only really found in eastern Andalucía (Granada, Almería and famously Jaén), while [ʃ] is only found in the west (Seville, Cádiz and Huelva)

i’m under the impression that Córdoba has [h tʃ]
