just one anecdote but there are walkable cities I don’t visit since using a wheelchair bc walkable ≠ accessible (thinkin about nyc in particular) (also I find anticar urbanists forgetting abt disabled realities v ironic considering wheelchair users make up 1/3rd of “pedestrian” fatalities by car)

I've never heard anyone anticar who is anti speed cameras. But if you spend enough time on Twitter you will find every possible opinion while also going completely insane.

I drive a car too. An anticar bias is a good thing for a city to have. Especially after 100+ years of procar bias. Cars in cities need to be tamed and managed because they are inherently dangerous to people. And cities are dense with people.

So many flowers to choose from! I got these obnoxiously yellow #tulips for just $9. #BuyYourselfFlowers

The problem with going politically anticar is that you end up where you can do the thing like you can with Reagan where you can tie nearly every modern domestic problem to them but then you have to deal with 90% of the country getting to work on Ronald Reagan
"Tell me what you care about, and I'll tell you how cars make it worse," is a thing advocates say for a reason. Once you understand the intersection of car dependency with a range of issues it completely changes you.

The anticar crowd are the new militant vegans of the world. They strip literally all nuance out of the argument and are so obnoxious and aggressive that it almost seems like controlled opposition to make people even more opposed to things like public transport.
