I just woke up and can't see this anywhere, but have we agreed on a tag yet for posting stuff while AO3 is down? It would be handy to be able to make a feed and browse the tag etc.

Yessss another writing prompt place for the long Archive of Our Own Outage #AO4 days.
I made a thing:
wordsmeetheartbeats - A new comment meme community for BL fandoms, made in mind with Thai, Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean BL, but also allowing BL content from other countries. GL is allowed, too, and so is polyamory if they have a queer aspect.

we already have the next people, too! fanfic.party is well-meaning college kids who think they're archivists. blk-archiveofourown.org is an obvious psyop. ao4.lol could go either way.

This is actually such an important point. #AO4
It's interesting that AO3 is down for such a lengthy stretch during what's arguably the most consumption-oriented/extractive era in fanfic's history. People dumping thousands of fics on gdrive are being hailed as heroes, drowning out fic writers saying, I didn't consent to be *republished* there.

We have gone from "people passing around their favorite fics in good faith" to "multiple sites sloppily reposting the entirety of the nyuuzyou LLM scrape of AO3 from spring 2025" in what, 48 hours? Cool, cool.

Fascinating to wake up to an apology from a 17 yo in India (?), for so many reasons. I'm glad the site is down. I'm glad he learned a lesson (?). But the scope of what one kid (?) can do with enough motivation and vibe coding a "swarm of AI agents"... Oof. #AO4 continues to be a learning experience.
