Syphilitic aortitis weakens the aortic wall, potentially leading to an aortic aneurysm, a bulge that risks rupture. 🤞

Damage to the aortic valve is also common, resulting in aortic regurgitation, where the valve fails to close properly, stressing the heart & causing heart failure.

Interesingly, the histology revealed a familial small cell aortitis from my mother's side. They're doing the genetic studies now. I didn't know it but I have six 1st cousins with aortic aneurysms (out of 41 first cousins total). The whole family will be screened now, which is a good thing.

My husband had a severe type3 hypersensitivity reaction to Pfizer resulting in initial meningitis and vasculitis/aortitis resolving into autoimmunity/neurological disease and a thoracic aortic aneurysm also developed v severe ME which has improved to mildish he can now move around with a frame
