A fire outbreak gutted the Nigeria Customs Service Western Marine Command office in Apapa, Lagos, on Monday morning, destroying property worth millions of naira. The fire started at about 10:23 a.m. following an electrical surge in the command's conference room and quickly spread to other sections of the building. Officers on duty tried to contain the blaze before personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service arrived at about 10:45 a.m.

A rights group has called for an immediate and independent investigation into a police shooting at a naming ceremony in Orile Iganmu, Lagos, which left an 11-year-old girl and an elderly man hospitalised with gunshot injuries. The Movement for the Transformation of Nigeria, through its Apapa coordinating structure, made the demand in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The group said firearms were discharged around 8pm on Wednesday, September 23, after police officers attempted to stop activities at a naming ceremony near Ekunjinmi and Wewe Street and residents pushed back.
