Você deve ter se confundido porque a família (táxon mais abrangente) das abelhas, com e sem ferrão, é Apidae, mas o gênero (táxon menos abrangente) das com ferrão mais conhecidas é Apis e o das sem ferrão é Melipona. Tem também a Bombus que, apesar de ter ferrão, são bem únicas.
