Its the extensive and apomorphic gracilization of the H. sapiens postcranial skeleton, that marks Homo sapiens, as distinctive among Homo, along with paedomorphodis of the skull and face. This gracilisation impacted the breathing biomechanics of H. sapiens. But who breathed the best?

I read similarly long ago aboutcdifferences, betwen neanderthal and modern Homo rib cages, having an effect on the diaphragm. But not in so much detail. 'What makes us human?' is normally a question laden with cultural baggage, but H. sapiens reallyvis apomorphic, in its physical anatomy.
