De gigantische zonnevlek #AR3590 is het hele weekend groter geworden.
AR3590 is nu de grootste (4048 miljoen km²) zonnevlek van zonnecyclus 25.
Hij is nu 60% zo groot (qua oppervlak) als de grote zonnevlek die de Carrington Event in september 1859 veroorzaakte.

De gigantische zonnevlek #AR3590 is het hele weekend groter geworden.
AR3590 is nu de grootste (4048 miljoen km²) zonnevlek van zonnecyclus 25.

Following an active solar region for four or five days gives a good look at the sun's rotation (though don't go by the angle--that could be my camera rotation). AR3590 is not getting larger. If anything it seems to have shrunk a bit. #Astronomy

Remember AR3590? I'm including my image of it here. On Feb 26 it was the size of 9 Earths. It's gone around and come back to face Earth as AR3614, only about 1/9 its maximum size. I's been quiet. The little cluster of sunspots, AR3615, is causing all the ruckus. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

This is the strongest flare of Solar Cycle 25, and the third X-flare the sunspot has produced in a 24 hour period.
