Purchased the arbortech mini carver for making spoons and other things
Here's my first power carving. I used the Arbortech turbo plane & Kutzall shaping disc. I carved it in July but the wood moved a lot and split. I filled the holes with tinted CA glue from Starbond.

Today is Monday and Moon Day and raising the canopy of my elm tree day (ArborTech, not me) but also bracing for the likely arrival of stomach flu day.

Coffee scoops.
Made these a few years ago before I got into handtools.
Hollowed out the scoop using an Arbortech ball gouge on my angle grinder, then cut the blank out of the board with a jigsaw, then shaped on a oscillating sander.
It worked great, but fuck the dust.

There are some cool bits you can buy that are pricey (and dangerous) that let you power carve, and they last a long time. Check out arbortech

I can't figure out how to make spoons fast enough to do anything but gifts with them.
Even if i get them close to shape with the bandsaw and use the arbortech ball gouge for the bowl of the spoon.
I did see a slick technique for steam bending the spoon blank before rough cutting on the bandsaw

That Arbortech bit is a blast to use. I expect I'm going to have to break that out for this unless I want to be at it for a month.

Various bits of manual sanding with sandpaper and using a detail sander and later an Arbortech contour sander (flexible little sanding head that attaches to an angle grinder, quite effective!) Still didn’t get it quite how I wanted it though
