I would rather they give out cold, hard cash. Like they once did. Under Bush, my haul was $15K because I re-upped in a combat zone (Iraq). The troops can then invest that money. #armyretired

It's the reverse culture in the military. Folks assume we are hitting the gym to "look good" or to become bodybuilders. Our goals are simply about moving safely under load and the physical ability to execute the mission. #armyretired

Implicit in our enlistment contract is the stipulation that "needs of the Army" override any personal desires to where we are sent to serve. Among those whose unit deployments were to Iraq/Afghanistan, some saw intense combat while others did not. It isn't up to us. #armyretired
