Also for Thursday, here's a before and after art for one of my sea life arts, as shown by this Bowmouth Guitarfish.

2021 vs 2026.

A Bowmouth Guitarfish done in Photoshop back in 2021. Here, the drawing is traced: Back then I genuinely had poor shape language for art and didn't know what colors to choose. The same Bowmouth Guitarfish in February 2026, finished in Procreate. This time, a more vibrant color palette is used to give it a dazzling look to it, a coral reef was carefully added, and background fish swim by to make the reef itself their home.

2025 is over. It really beat me up 🥊 💥 We took lots of lumps, but still found time to socialize, visit some great places, see some amazing art, and even make some art of our own. 👍 ✨ Thank you all for your support during the year - here's to more good things in 2026! 🥂 #artlookback #endofyear

I dug up my ocean life arts done in Photoshop and looking back between my arts between 5 years ago up until just this year alone is like night and day.

And suffice to say, the evolution between these arts are remarkable.

A fin whale done back in early 2021, somewhere around February. Here, the art isn't good enough because it was done crudely in Photoshop with a stale gradient. The same fin whale updated 5 years later in Procreate. Now, the whale got dramatically redesigned, with a teal to turquoise color scheme to make it distinguishable away from the other whale species I drew (which is the humpback) in order to balance the color composition with some lighting to give the ocean it's pure richness. A lone humpback whale done in Photoshop. Back then I traced this from a Wikipedia illustration which wasn't the best choice back then and the gradient with no lighting didn't help it. Humpback Whales, done together as a pod with not one but 5 humpbacks in a migration from Hawaii to Alaska for their annual feeding journey. Here, there is prominent use of lighting, the whales look distinct from each other since no humpback is the same, and the ocean shines it's richness once again.
