🎸PRESERVING ARTIST SPACES🎨
Great news alert! We’re on the verge of saving the artist building at 57 Central! The longtime building owners are working with the City, an arts non-profit, artist tenants and #ArtStaysHere on a long-term solution. Huge, precedent-setting - so thrilled.

Nice coverage of last week’s Community Benefits Agreement.
Here’s a quote from the #ArtStaysHere movement who worked in coalition with the Neighborhood Council: ““The number of things that it addresses and the amount of money put behind it is, in my opinion, heroic.”

Here's the latest on Somernova, the big development set for Somerville's Union Square neighborhood
Last week, nearby residents voted to approve a Community Benefits Agreement for the project.

Good flier by #ArtStaysHere about the importance of this vote.
Basically, we have a chance to get benefits, but a ‘no’ does not block the council from passing the zoning, nor is the developer obliged to re-enter negotiations if this agreement fails.

Looking next at the edits to the ACE definitions - it's hard to tell but this seems to be the tightening up that #ArtStaysHere and others advocated for.
Like yes to more art and boo to co-working. Design services stayed in though, so a mixed bag.
Strangely, body art got the axe?
