The Carlton Blues have secured a significant victory over the Hawthorn Hawks in a challenging wet conditions match at Ikon Park, moving into the AFLW's top four. The match, played under heavy rain, saw the Blues dominate the first quarter with three quick goals while keeping the Hawks scoreless until midway through the second term. Despite the Hawks' efforts to rally in the third quarter with back-to-back goals from Poppy Stockwell and Kaitlyn Ashmore, the Blues maintained their lead to win 5.6 (36) to 3.6 (24). The match was played in monsoonal conditions, with the Hawks' pre-game banner destroyed by the weather before they could even run through it. Meanwhile, other notable developments in the round included Melbourne skipper Kate Hore suffering a neck injury during her 100th AFLW match, which has left the Demons uncertain about her availability for their upcoming clash with Collingwood. Hore was chaired off after completing the game before reporting neck discomfort. Additionally, Geelong secured a narrow victory over Richmond with a last-minute goal from Jasmine Stewart, taking the Cats to a 4.3 (27) to 3.2 (20) lead. The match was played in front of a sparse crowd due to predicted heavy rain and the neutral venue. The Tigers' debutante Ana Mulholland showed promise with a goal in her first AFLW game, while Olivia Wolmarans kicked a goal and set up another for Gabby Seymour. The round eight fixtures included several other matches across the league, with teams like GWS, Essendon, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide, Adelaide, North Melbourne, Sydney, Collingwood, and Melbourne all competing in various venues.
