“He reminds me of Isaac Asimov” … can you be more specific? Much more specific please
I got one that asked me to compare the student to a really odd list of famous people. Like I had ever thought about whether a given student reminded me more of Howard Baker or Rita Moreno or Isaac Asimov.

Things Asimov wasn’t over keen to acknowledge lmfao

2001 was Clarke, not Asimov.

I thought Asimov wrote poorly
I liked Poul Anderson

SPOILER: Asimov, like Heinlein, thought that women were only interesting if they were cardboard cutout men with tits drawn on them.

Apparently, the drones and ground robotic systems haven't read Asimov.

I had to read some Asimov for a thing I was planning to write last year (about how outdated so many TESCREAL fantasies actually are) and you're absolutely right, Asimov really is not a particularly good writer.

Asimov decided to poop the vote this morning and needed a bath.

I have tried to tell him that's not a thing.

both fell asleep

Asimov heard the election news and he's pleased. He's very relaxed now.

It is funny how GW is now so protective of their IP when they basically outright plagiarised everyone from Tolkien to Asimov.

Pratchett, Tolkien, Herbert and Asimov?

Did I enjoy reading Asimov as a teen? Yes.

Would I advise literally anyone to read it today? No.
There's a lot of sentimental talk about 'Golden Age' SF, but honestly, most of it is crap. I've just been reading some of Bob Shaw's 1950's short fiction, & wow, it is terrible. Just clumsy af, & terrible writing, This is also true of Asimov & many other Golden Age writers.

HELP!

Student is writing their paper juxtaposing Asimov's "Sally" and Bruce Holsinger's _Culpability_. V exciting stuff on autonomous vehicles.

Can anyone recommend any secondary scholarship on the Asimov story?

Apparently they’ve never read Asimov. Cuz those robots fucked.

Asimov didn't write 2001

Modern scifi is leaps and bounds ahead in every respect. Anne Leckie or N.K. Jemisin can run laps around an Asimov or Arthur C Clarke without breaking a sweat. They’re not standing on the shoulders of giants, but the shoulders of some very small men.
