My coldest Kevin Smith take is that his Askewniverse stuff has aged better than most other comedies from that same era.
Sometimes I think about how Kevin Smith has always been Kevin Smith, and that I went from loving his work to sneering at it to now reconnecting to its earnestness, and why that’s probably a lesson against adopting a critical mindset that positions oneself as a fixed object that art moves around.
