And the comments are almost completely non-critical! I've read good stuff from astralcodexten before. Has he changed? Radicalized himself?

Asking mostly because I'm worried about my father, but is #AstralCodexTen a part of the #altrightpipeline? I've read a lot of the guy's early stuff (pre-2019) and it was really interesting, but the more recent (2020-2023) stuff feels icky, and I can't put my finger on why

Whenever anyone tells you what a brilliant thinker SlateStarCodex/AstralCodexTen/Scott Alexander/Scott Siskind is, keep in mind his persistent and weird interest in IQ and Race Science.
I managed to read the SSC "maybe I fucked up?" dialogue and it was telling me to that even the persona representing his regret still couldn't quite bring itself to fully repent. I was very struck by the quoted. That's the trente glorieuses she's talking about! Stagnation cos not enough race science!

The use of the terms in this way seem to be a signifier of involvement in the online rationalist movement and sites like LessWrong and AstralCodexTen (previously SlateStarCodex).
It’s ironic. This community is focused on improving its arguments through identifying errors of analysis etc.

I'm barely familiar with GAN images 😅 I read about DALL-E 2 on AstralCodexTen sometime in 2022, bookmarked the website, signed up and started generating images some weeks or months later... after that, I resolved not to be slow on the uptake of new AI models
