À mon avis, au vu du calendrier, ils n’iront pas jusqu’à modifier l’architecture globale de leur atterrisseur. Ça serait prendre bien 2-3 ans de retard.

Mais si une troisième fois ça ne fonctionne pas, ils passeront sans doute à leur prochain atterrisseur, comme l’a fait Astrobotics.

Astrobotics Peregrine lunar lander has suffered shortly after launch a propulsion failure which led to a critical loss of propellants. I think, this likely rules out a lunar landing. :-( But perhaps some engineering data can be gathered.

I don't know enough to judge Astrobotics. But it is hard to believe private funds are in this for pure knowledge and discovery. Privateers raise funds for fundamentally different reasons than NASA. What makes it cheaper does not make it better. It's junk space for hedge funders.

Also, I don’t think the cancellation of the VIPER mission was Astrobotics fault. They were providing the lander, not the rover. And they have other projects they are still working on with regard to the moon missions.
