NMM gold guide

1. Start with grey primer.

2. Base: English Uniform.

3. Highlight - Yellow Ochre and shadow Chocolate Brown.

4. Use Beige paint the brights, Chocolate Brown to outline details.

5. Paint points of light with Ivory, deep shadows Black.

A quick tutorial on painting NMM gold on this gorgeous Barocco style shield sculpted by atlanforge ❤️. . . . . . 1. I started with grey primer but any neutral color is fine. . 🦁 . 2. For the base color use Vallejo Model Color 70.921 English Uniform. You will need to apply 2 or 3 layers for opaque coverage. . . 3. For the first highlight use VMC 70.913 Yellow Ochre and for the first shadow VMC 70.872 Chocolate Brown. Try to place the highlights and shadows to create reflections separated by really dark areas. Smooth the transitions by glazing or stippling the mix of base color and highlight or shadow where the two meet. . 🦁 . 4. Using VMC 70.917 Beige paint the bright spots within your highlights. Focus on highlighting the edges as well. The edges on metal surfaces are always reflective so should be brighter. Use Chocolate Brown to outline the details, find where the shadow should be, and make them dark. This stage will define your NMM and make it look convincing. . 🦁 . 5. For your final step paint the small reflections and points of light with VMC 70.918 Ivory and the deepest shadows and outlines with VMC 70.950 Black. . . . . As always you can blend the piece as much as you feel is necessary but I would stick to the fast almost not blended approach I showed (for the gaming models).
