Modeling and coding share a trait: there is always more than one way to do it.

PEI bought both the American boardgame publishing side and the European distribution side in two (technically separate) transactions.

And tried to make good on the pent up demand. They spun out Edge studios for the Genesys RPG engine, and Atomic Mass Games for the minis games.

Algorand's architecture supports the creation of decentralized applications (dApps) and assets with features like atomic transfers, where multiple transactions can be grouped and executed as one, ensuring they all succeed or fail together.

SQL is good for "everything", but if you're aiming for maximum flexibility at the expense of out-of-the-box usability you deviate in these directions for different workload classes:

OLTP (transactions): ordered KV store with atomic writes
OLAP (analytics): columnar files and data frame libraries

Might be a pretty good idea tho. 🤔

There's so much stuff going on with slatedb.io right now. Both exciting and humbling.

- Time-to-live (TTL)
- Snapshots/Transactions
- Checkpoints
- Range queries
- Atomic batch writes

And slatedb-go is getting contributions now, too!

Pacman transactions aren't atomic, and it still suffers from the fact that apps can just store data anywhere. It still loses to flatpak, and is way way more likely to require an OS reinstall to get rid of crap it has done.

[IT Related] In an event sourced system how do we do transactions?

This is an interesting problem. The first thing to note is that I am talking about business transactions, not database transactions.

(The main difference is that in a database transaction the transaction is atomic,

Add `WriteBatch` and `write_batch` operations for atomic batch writes by criccomini · Pull Request #264 · slatedb/slatedb
Taking a crack at a WriteBatch API similar to RocksDB's. I opted to use a WriteBatch struct rather than an iterator of key-value pairs so that we could record deletes as well. I believe thi...

Never, ever reboot a Mac in the middle of an OS upgrade! "It seems stuck," you think. "Apple probly does an atomic swap between the old & new OSes, if I reboot it'll just clean up after itself. They're smart and they've heard of DB transactions," you think.

You are wrong. I had to reformat my HD.

Atomic batches in 2013, single-partition compare-and-sawp later that year, and now serializable cross-partition transactions with Accord in unreleased Cassandra 6. We explore each in this article, and find a bug.

Paywall has expired. Give it a read!

I was there when this happened and it's very distressing to have something like this occur while you're AT A SHOW. Card Sales are 60-80% of our transactions, so not being able to take cards is devastating. Atomic has a ton of back to back shows coming up so this bad boi needs to be replaced FAST!
So, unfortunately over the weekend card reader-kun decided to absolutely kick the bucket. I have a TON of shows coming up and so much product still to order.

If you are able to contribute in any way, that would be *amazing*

If you can't I'd love if you could share this post ♡

Thank you ♡
