By 1994 GW decided to update the Guard and released Cadians, Catachans, Mordians, Tallarns, Valhallans, Stormtroopers and Attilans all in the course of a year.

This was to represent the various planets in the imperium and its homogeneous nature.

Attilans would love Jens by which I mean love Jens' horse. Alice is the real main character.

explains why the standard guard box had attilans rather than death korp horse boys

Attilans, Praetorians, Vostroyans, Pyrans, Savlars, Tallarns… LOTS of regiments have horsey!

10 seconds after this several Attilans bully this commissar into naming his enormous nightmare Krieg horse. :) Her name is Alice.

It was a good book (Leontus: Lord Solar)

Was it cheaper?

Valhallans at £13 = £27.50 in modern money. Its cheaper.

One Lieutenant at £2.75 = £5.80 in modern money. Again Cheaper.

We have no obvious comparison for the Attilans so I am leaving them off.

Cheaper scoreboard.

If we don't get a follow-up exploring Jens as a Krieg commissar I'll burn something down. It's always an outsider assigned TO a Krieg regiment, let a Krieg tend their own for once. She's cut her teeth and proved her mettle. Her and Alice against the world. Hell, give her some Attilans.

So in part 3 I compare the Box of Attilans to the modern box.

What we dont have is a single command mini or banner bearer similar to the Attilan LT.

I have a few Krieg. If I was just starting they would be my go to, no doubt. I do want one of those big artillery pieces.

But I prefer the Attilans when it comes to comparisons on design for the rough riders.

I actually don't. I remember when it was metal Valhallans, Tallarns, Mordians, Cadians, Catachans, Attilans & Praetorians, and then I went away for awhile, and when I got back it was plastic Cadians and Catachans, finecast Steel Legion, Vostroyans, Valhallans, and Tallarns, and forgeworld Kriegers.

.... Karskin, Vostroyans, ohh and Attilans... plus about 2 or 3 Ogryn and Ratling refreshes.

2007- 2026 - Scions, Cadians 3, Krieg 2, Karskin 2, Attilans 2...

Everything seems like a reboot...

So for about a decade we get the core and then nothing new after except Scions...

Weird.

Hhh I'm a little in love with the idea of Jens getting assigned to another regiment like the Attilans. A people who have a similar tie to the cavalry/horses as the Krieg, but a very strong, defined culture for her to put all her training from Hesh to work Interpersonally Wrangling Them.

I'm fairly sure Rough Riders still have rules, seeing as the Attilans got new models last edition.
