#FossilFriday Burrow infilled with cemented sediment in a building stone at Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, France. The rock is Campanian-aged Barbezieux Formation, a bioturbated, glauconitic limestone full of body fossils (e.g. the bryozoan left of the burrow).

#MolluscMonday Late Cretaceous scallop shell (?Neithea) from a wall overlooking the ornate entrance of the Eglise Saint-Jacques, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne in SW France. This church lies on a branch of the Camino Way for which, coincidentally, the emblem is a modern scallop shell.

I photographed this massive bee in the centre of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, SW France, on Saturday (19/9/26).
Whilst common in southern Europe, they are rare visitors to England, which, while they occasionally breed, are not thought to be established yet.

This South African butterfly arrived in Mallorca in the 1980s & is established in S. Europe. They occasionally turn up in the UK on imported plants, but it is thought our winters are too cold for them to establish.
