Audiobooks aren't for me* but for those into them, check out E.H. Lupton's short reading here. (Or get the whole book narrated by Scott Paige on Audible, Audiobookstore, or via Hoopla at your public library.)

*I once almost drove off a highway listening to Patrick Stewart's A CHRISTMAS CAROL. 😆

I use Audiobookstore. They have a lot of audiobooks that aren't tied to any particular platform or device.

You can buy titles direct from audiobookstore dot com
You can also support local bookstores through Libro dot fm but its a monthly payment system like the Barnes and noble audiobook store (but they give you a free credit for a book)

So, doing a little digging, if you don't mind ebooks, Overdrive might have a library with it, and the audio book (read by Andrew J Robinson) looks to be available on a site called AudiobookStore. Both look like good options to avoid one of the big ones.

Hello #booksky - small 1st world cry for help here re access to audiobooks in the UK. I am a long time audible / audiobookstore user but am finding more titles with no non-USA license. Gemini tells me to get a US library card and get access to stuff via Hoopla - anyone got an better workaround?

There have been licensing issues with the audio book for So You Want To Be a Game Master.

What I can't tell you is that you can to this website, simply select US or Canada as your region, and buy the book.

@michaelemann.bsky.social I tried accessing 'Our Fragile Moment' from the AudiobookStore (cancelled my Audible subscription due to Bezos), it said "Publisher’s copyright restrictions this audiobook cannot be sold in Australia". Are there any other options to purchase as an audioBook in Australia?

If you want to get audiobooks, like @jbf1755.bsky.social's, but you don't ant to get locked into someone's DRM scheme, consider getting it from AudioBookstore. You buy it once and can listen to it on whatever device you heart desires. I got my audiobook from them and love it. #BookSky
