#augmn
Playing "Tago Mago" on the nightshift. Doctors and nurses keep flooding the room. "Augmn" is coming up any minute now. That'll show 'em.

Tbf if I dug out Tago Mago now (haven't in far too long) bet I'd be way more receptive to the more freeform half. I used to just skip Augmn after the three minute mark, where the guitar gives way to the percussion. Definitely wouldn't do that if hearing it for the first time today

held back as it for can, rhythm is more central in augmn than it ever is in stockhausen

ppl make a lot of the stockhausen connection but i think augmn is probably as close as can get to the karlheinz sonic aesthetic (viz the improvised piece as den sieben tagen, which is also out on a limb for KS)

i was introduced to augmn by a sounds writer (john gill) describing it as the most frightening piece of music ever made (complimentary)

this means i have probably played it more often than else on tago mago, to see if i can hear this in it

as a result i am v fond of it

or to be at peace, or to achieve the labour and heroism of incarnation on this planet or another, or in any Star, or aught else, unto them may there be granted the accomplishment of their wills; yea, the accomplishment of their wills. AUGMN, AUGMN, AUGMN.

A guiding star has fallen and risen.

On someone's advice I once turned off all the lights during "Augmn." Very good if your goal is to recreate the six year-old's dread of being 100% certain there's a monster in your room who will devour you if you peek out of the sheets.

4. Can - Tago Mago

Genre - Krautrock, Psychedelic Rock, Experimental Rock

Almost structureless but really fucking hypnotic and jammy music. Even the creepy ambient track, Augmn, is amazing.

My only real issue is with Peking O but other than that I love every song in here.
