Side by side comparison. On the left, a black and white photograph by Albert Londe of a patient at the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris demonstrating a “hysteric yawn.” On the right a film still from me dancing. Side by side comparison. On the left, a black and white photograph by Paul-Marie-Léon Regnard of Augustine Gleizes, a patient at the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. Augustine sits up in her hospital bed wearing a white gown. Her fingers rub together in a “tsk tsk” sort of motion while her angled head looks up to the ceiling and her tongue sticks out. The bottom of the photo has a caption that reads, “Attitudes Passionnelles.” On the right a film still from me dancing. Side by side comparison. On the left, a black and white photograph by Paul-Marie-Léon Regnard of Augustine Gleizes, a patient at the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. Augustine sits up cross legged, almost like in a yoga pose, in her hospital bed wearing a white gown. She looks up to the sky, her arms up on a sort of “praise” gesture. She appears almost as if in a trance. The bottom of the photo has a caption that reads, “Attitudes Passionnelles.” On the right a film still from me dancing.
