#austenhead
As an annoying Austenhead I often ask myself ‘is the game worth the candle’ but it’s effectively the same question - do we lose more than we gain.
I've always hated the phrase "kill your darlings", because it's too easily misinterpreted as "if you love something, it *must* be self-indulgent and therefore bad and therefore should be excised."

But I do think there's merit asking yourself "is the juice worth the squeeze?"

I loved Shakespeare and I hated Jane Austen (only because her novels weren't taught well. I'm a bit Austenhead as an adult)
US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?

the colors and mood of the scene right as bingley and darcy arrive makes it seem like summer but i know as a true austenhead that it's autumn. bingley is there for the hunting and also to get jane back. in the book he's there for much longer

Have you seen Fire Island? It's delightful! I'm not even an Austenhead, but I was jumping up and down during The Rain Scene because they did it so well.
