Austerity killed people.

Austerity mindset has been inculcated into us for generations.
It deeply disturbs me how many otherwise liberal and leftist people are willing to just accept a future where only the children of the wealthy can pursue the arts.

That’s bullshit. We can do better than that.
If you want more Patrick Stewarts, then you publicly fund the arts and learning programs, so that working class kids can find their way into making a career in them.

'avoid a return to austerity'

all we've had for 16 years is austerity.

i fucking this gaslighting that labour do where they claim that their budgets aren't austerity when they absolutely are.
This is called preparing the ground, also known as tenderising the meat (that’s us):

‘…to avoid a return to austerity, according to Britain’s leading tax and spending experts…’

‘Experts’ claim something that never went away is inevitable, so it must be, right?

Ghostbusters I is a story about university austerity measures as much as it is about paranormal science.

Kemi Badenoch, "We need to start talking about living within our means, not austerity. We are overspending and we're borrowing from our children"

Sounds like common sense, but if it means cutting public services and support, it’s austerity, whatever Kemi Badenoch chooses to call it.

Austerity was really bad

Tens of thousands of people protest in Japan angry at forced austerity to fund Donald Trump's demands that they spend all their money on 'defence'.

It's such a great age to teach them austerity.

How many died from austerity?

Turns out Tej doesn’t care and he wants some more!!!
Britain's welfare ratchet.

My column for @financialtimes.com. Political incentives, rising expectations on the state & deeper economic failings make the UK's benefits system hard to rein in.

More than 120,000 young people protested across Germany on Saturday. They are connecting austerity policies with massive rearmament and war. This political consciousness must be developed and armed with a Trotskyist program. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...

Austerity measures have gotten way out of hand

Yes exactly - admin bloat is downstream from austerity

👏 You can't cut your way to prosperity, because people pushed into poverty aren't productive.

Two decades of austerity have destroyed the UK, its time to end the failed experiment & invest in our country again.

Austerity for thee but not for me

Really afraid that we're going to see huge gains across the country and especially in red states, and in California we're going to write billionaire oligarchic austerity right into the Constitution

Say No to austerity measures and fund the damn arts!

Look at this FT amateur being torn apart, quite rightly, for misrepresenting data with this graph. Welfare spending is stable and these lies are being used to manufacture consent for brutal austerity

Blair? Austerity. Brown? Austerity. Cameron? Austerity. May? Austerity. Johnson ? Austerity.Truss? Austerity. Sunak? Austerity. Starmer? Austerity. Burnham? Austerity.
As long as the OBR and these arbitrary fiscal rules persist, there will be no lasting material improvements for ordinary citizens.
