i actually think that the way that autochtonous jews have universally adopted israeli identity and autochtonous arabs have universally adopted palestinian identity is a pretty good illustration of the fact that both are modern evolutions of cultural concepts deeply rooted in the land

Alexander Jagiellon is an insufficiently hated figure in Lithuanian history imo. He was truly, awfully terrible in ways that people dont even realise. For one, he presided over Lithuania's only autochtonous pre-Holocaust Jewish expulsion.
With the caveat that it's possible Grand Duke Alexander beats him.

The Brits are the autochtonous population of the Falkland Islands. They are the first group to have populated those islands and displaced no one in the process of doing so. They actually populated them way less violently than the English and Scots populated the rest of Britain in their ethnogenesis!

Honestly, a solution, albeit an unpopular one, would be to cease referring to the "Semitic" language family altogether too, as that name is not actually meaningfully autochtonous and indeed comes from the rather dated idea all those peoples descend from Shem, son of Noah.

Whether a title of a European ruler can be translated as "rex" in Latin, for instance, is /unbelievably/ important in a medieval European context, probably more important than its autochtonous form.

Class-wise, very similar. One important and very distinct caveat is that "Poles" in Lithuania were autochtonous and actually in the bulk better predominantly understood as the descendants of the nobility of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Often they didn't even consider themselves /not/ Lithuanian.

Autochtonous is the best word for this. Indigenous, while synonymous in common parlance, tends to also have a specific context in sociology as only really a relevant term in contexts where a juxtaposed population are settlers.

Turns out that if you learn the Latin alphabet literally second after actual Latin speakers, and ~all your subsequent writing is done in that autochtonous writing tradition, its evolution will basically be separate from everyone who only starts writing in the vernacular several centuries later.

"One state for one people" is not really an acceptable mode of governance anywhere, for that matter, because democratic states should be states of all their people. But it is especially not acceptable in a territory with more than one autochtonous people.

I hate always hated "autochtonous paths", they are always excuses for nothing but autocracy at worse, or social conservatism at best - the nations entire 'spirit' supposedly encapsulated in hating gays.
