Ex-Australian Mosquito flies in NZ. Thanks to input from several knowledgeable colleagues, our background details and news here. Also you can see the aircraft (with a little luck!) at the Wanaka airshow this Easter.

In Sept 2012, I covered the restoration of the first 'new' de Havilland Mosquito to fly in the 21st Century. An unforgettable period and notable achievement by a select group. A short grab of the story on my blog (Spot the Champagne cork?): vintageaerowriter.wordpress.com/2022/09/29/m...

Next year we should have a flying Mossie in the UK.
Avspecs in New Zealand are working on one at the moment which will initially be based at Biggin Hill. Fingers crossed everything goes as planned!!

Wings over Wairarapa airshow at Hood Aerodrome, New Zealand in 2013. So grateful to have had the chance to see a de Havilland Mosquito in the air, especially flown so well and at such a picturesque location and well organised and choreographed event. #dehavillandmosquito #wingsoverwairarapa #avspecs

Oh, so many from which to choose, but this would be pretty high on the list. Enough seats to transport most of the staff required to keep it flying. | 🛩️

Feels a bit joyless Matthew. It's akin to snubbing the Mozzies built/restored by Avspecs in NZ because all the wood had to be replaced.

I'll bet you're a riot at airshows mate ["actually that's not a real Spitfite"].

Kudos to AvSpecs. Would’ve loved a KA 114 style victory tour after final assembly.

Progress photos of DH Mosquito FB Mk.VI TE881 / NZ2345 at AvSpecs in NZ. This is for FlyaSpitfire.com and the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar, and should be flying in the UK in 2027.

Biggest aircraft restoration in NZ has arrived! B-17 Yankee Lady has arrived at AvSpecs. Sadly only the fuselage, outer wings and empennage. The inner wings require very specialist work at Erickson Aircraft in Madras, OR.
