People are tax averse because they get nickeled and dimed and it's exhausting.

Not only are the revenue increases regressive, but they’re unpopular and nickel-and-dimey things like:
– increasing fees for driver’s licenses and IDs and indexing them to inflation
– increasing Discover Pass prices by 50%
– adding sales tax to more categories
– credit card fees on ferry tickets
