This Swallow at Balranald, N Uist this afternoon appears to be the American subspecies: erythrogaster due to the lack of a dark band across the lower throat.

Pottering around at Balranald, N Uist this morning I was pleased to have a singing Corn Bunting there. Things picked up a wee bit more when this Black-winged Pratincole flew past me at nearby Hougharry! #birdingscotland #rarebirdsuk

A few months ago we camped up on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River and the nearby town of Balranald. We had the camp site all to ourselves and used it as a base to explore the area. Please do check out the YouTube link below if you would like to see more.

A 45-year itch finally scratched this weekend - Corn Crake! Somehow I’ve never seen a passage bird (very rare in Kent and Norfolk) and I missed them on 10+ Scilly visits. They weren’t coming to me so I had to go to them. Life isn’t getting any longer! Balranald delivered. #UKBirding

Farrer (Albury/Balranald/Riverina) neighbours Indi ... where a regional Indy showed it can be done.

Past weekend, me and my cousin had just got to Balranald, NSW. While we’re checking into this motel a woman wanders into reception and says “Welcome to BOONGranald!”. I did ask if she in fact had said “BOONGranald”, she sheepishly confirmed. Instant refund. The year is 2024.

More stupidity. Balranald, not Ban... 😢
Please accept a picture of Loch Maree and Slioch as an apology.

A bit breezy but managed to get some Barnie rings read today around Balranald, N Uist. D6 was ringed at Hofn, S. Iceland in 2023 whilst HN (white) was ringed as a juvenile at Breidamerkur, S. Iceland in 2019. He now has a yellow family with him. #BirdingScotland #BirdingOuterHebs

BEST BITS - No 7: Corncrake, Balranald, June 5: After two days of violent storms in the Outer Hebrides, I finally managed to connect with one of these scarce breeders. Using my car as a hide at first light, I watched a male proclaiming territory from a nettle clump. Pic: Martin Price. #ukbirding

When the westerly gale finally subsided, the Corncrakes came out to play at Balranald RSPB, one bird in particular affording me prolonged 'scope views from 5am onwards as it proclaimed territory. Their calls are such an evocative sound in this wild landscape #ukbirding

Thing I learnt today - Balranald is famous for frogs. And therefore Balranald library has this handsome fellow. On Mutthi Mutthi Country.

One of the more unexpected species seen so far on our trip, has been this really smart juvenile Turtle Dove we found at Balranald a few days ago, possibly my best ever views of the species.
