Off camping at #BalsamLake provincial park. The dog beach gets two paws up from Hazel.

I’ll finish the Expo trip when I get back.

I have 6 advance copies of The Balsam Lake Unmurders than I need for other reasons. So how about a fun giveaway:

📸 Take and caption a photo of yourself like you're Dale Cooper driving into Balsam Lake
🍂 Post it tagged #BalsamLake

I'll pick winners randomly. You'll have the game before anyone else!

I very much agree. The detective theme and setting and card play aspects make it quite more of a gateway game than Be With Me or The Sneeze.

This seems like a great way to get into journaling games for the first time! (I've read Paul's earlier/more-meta works on the subject and he's been thinking deeply about immersion.)

The day you print and trim your proof copy is so great.

My hand holding a home printed and trimmed copy of The Balsam Lake Unmurders. It's a journaling game where you're a lone FBI detective trying to catch a serial necromancer in a forested Minnesota town. The cover shows a non-white woman FBI detective near a forested lake.

A thing I didn't anticipate was how many people would get their copy of The Balsam Lake Unmurders and post to show the deck of cards they're going to use to play it. Here's some that were posted elsewhere.

Flogging a Kickstarter pre-launch page for followers isn't generally a lot of fun. So for The Balsam Lake Unmurders I found some fun making drivers captioned like Dale Cooper entering Balsam Lake to catch the necromancer. They're on the #BalsamLake hashtag. Did you notice some were recognizable?

You know the FBI is going to send you to Balsam Lake too. The game just doesn't run out of necromancers.
