I find this fascinating.
Connecting up my bank account to an AI agent is just a hard no for me.

But maybe I’m just out of touch? I can remember being baffled about how wary my parents were about online banking for a long time.

Travel eSIM vs traditional roaming: Why the old model can no longer keep up with modern data-usage standards
A modern trip can no longer be broken down into separate online sessions. A smartphone is constantly connecting to maps, messaging, banking and transport apps, while the amount of data used can vary significantly from one day of a trip to the next. Yet the outdated roaming model still tries to squeeze this fluctuating usage into identical daily packages with rigid data caps.

Good question! Esp given I don't let them anywhere near my creative work (screen writing) nor my actual life-organization work (email, photo history, banking). Like "on separate devices" separation from that latter category of extremely sensitive data.

The main answer is that, like the fantasy

Data centers are the physical side of digital life. They power cloud services, streaming, banking, hospitals, and AI. The question is whether communities know the electricity, water, land, and infrastructure bargain before signing. #GuardrailsForAI

You never questioned the servers needed to hold all of your social media, video games, news preferences, streaming video, shopping preferences, banking info, college courses, public schools admin, research

If the bloat is the worst part then might I suggest GrapheneOS? By default wipes all trace of google from the phone, and lets you reinstall some of it's services as needed. Biggest caveats are you'll need to save your data cuz the phone will wipe and banking apps don't like working on it.

There is one data center here who gets out of taxes by calling itself a “bank”. I dunno if it houses banking data or crypto something (probably the latter honestly)

Why argue about the merits of a significantly worse spellcheck than the one we already had in the face of stolen private medical data, stolen banking information, stolen personal conversations, and the unmitigated legal acceptance of mass surveillance?
