Here’s #BarbaraPayton all nicely framed and next to another of my favourites from yesteryear #JoanBennett.
Some reflections but in my world ‘perfection is a fault.’ 🖤

Four Sided Triangle (1953) d. Terence Fisher
This sci-fi/horror has always been one of my favourite early Hammer films so I was very pleased to finally obtain a fine 4K UHD release. I included this film in a dissertation I wrote many years ago for an OU course. I must find it!

They really didn't come much more #noir than #BarbaraPayton, here in the role of accused killer Eden Lane in #MurderIsMyBeat (dir. #EdgarGUlmer, 1955) with #PaulLangton as Det. Ray Patrick.

Trapped (1949) d. Richard Fleischer
I’ve got shelves full of physical media but still seem to spend a lot of time at the bottom of rabbit holes searching for watchable versions of obscure films!
This was the first credited feature film role for #BarbaraPayton and it's a decent noir crime thriller..

Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950) d. Gordon Douglas
Watched this before reading my new #BarbaraPayton autobiography. The film that gave the actress her big break. A tragedy that Barbara's life disintegrated amidst a blur of drugs and alcohol. She should have gone on to do great things. 🖤

Finishing the week with another #BarbaraPayton film. After a promising start to her career Barbara's life tragically descended into drug and alcohol fuelled self destruction and an early death at the age of 39. I'll be reading her autobiography soon...

Broken on the inside, but not a worthless or untalented person. Barbara Payton mattered to the people in her life, and she still matters today.
Barbara's life story is fascinating, and screenwriter and director Ciaran Creagh and I are working hard to get it filmed.

Barbara Payton lived her life like a cup of coffee: she drank it hot, in big gulps, and savored all its flavors – but in the end, it left only the bitter dregs. #BarbaraPayton #ClassicHollywood
