They're going to claim this based off Talarico, completely ignoring how uniquely awful Paxton was for his own state's GOP.
Watching reactions to El-Sayed's victory, especially on mainstream media, there has been a tendency to portray it as close, with some saying Stevens's defection hurt him. Not true. He won by a convincing 8 points, beating the average poll projections on the even of vote.

Without really being able to say why this is I actually think that transphobia has an unusually high propensity to drive its proponents off the wall. Just based on casual observation and vibes, but it seems to me that people who become Gender Bigots seem to get obsessive and chauvinist real quick.
I think there’s been a rhetorical tendency to say “they won’t stop at trans people! they’re coming for everyone else too!” and while that has always been true for the US religious right aspect of this, it *wasn’t* true for many of the people leading the UK movement, and now it increasingly is.
