Google Just Got Some Bad News From ChatGPT
OpenAI is coming for Google Search, and it's working. "ChatGPT's volume of search-like queries is now roughly one-fifth the volume of queries of Google," Adam Fry, ChatGPT's consumer product lead, told Alex Kantrowitz of the Big Technology newsletter. It's good news for OpenAI. For Google? Not so great. It not only shows that people are willing to use AI, but that people were really, really, fed up with Google search results. We already knew that basic information searching is currently the top use of LLMs like ChatGPT. Pew Research Center released a report this summer that showed that the top use case was to "search for information," with 42% of American adults surveyed saying they have used AI for that. ("For tasks at work" was the second most common use, with 38% of employed adults reporting that. Lesser uses include entertainment, getting news, and medical advice.) This survey wasn't specifically about ChatGPT, but it's by far the most popular AI chatbot (44% of American adults surveyed told Pew they've used ChatGPT, and only 24% have used Gemini, the next most common). ChatGPT now has 1.2 billion weekly users. We don't know how many of those users are doing informational searches...

We don’t stop 💛 Ahmad & his kids have faced catastrophic displacement. Teenager Bakr is painfully separated from them as he fights brain cancer. They need help. Give a coffee + click recurring; it all makes a difference.

Kitty gave a nod and did a somersault to get behind Vox and a few clicks could be heard before Kitty rested her hands on the media demon's shoulders.

❝ Shall we begin now or later? Also, would you like the usual oils or do you just want a basic package this time, Master Vox? ❞

When I lived in Louisiana, we had beautiful stickers designed by local artists. In Oklahoma now with just a basic “I Voted” sticker, and it’s a bit of a letdown. I keep ‘em on my mudroom fridge.

The Chinese giant BYD sold more cars in one month than the whole US auto industry sold in a quarter.

Then again, BYD makes a whole range of electric vehicles (basic to luxury) while the US automakers still make overly expensive gasburners that don't sell well.

Absolutely right. Look no further than Israel, where the assassin of Yitzhak Rabin has been voting regularly from prison. You don't surrender other basic rights even after violating the law (other than, well, freedom for a time.) This is no different.

Not talking about coding, though I reckon some can tell something is off there. Most of the games that are ai slop are obviously ai created slop. Also, even if they weren’t ai, they would be slop. We had games like this before ai. Basic quality control could thin out a majority of the problems.

The NYT doesn't understand the basic skill sets of most #Romancelandia authors...and readers. This is a formidable bunch of people.
I've seen things your readers wouldn't believe. Suede Demons faking books off the crooked dream spinners. I watched A-forums fizzle in the dark during the RITA-gate. All those moments always happen, given enough time. Next, your paper will. Time to die.
NYT vs. Romancelandia who’s taking bets?
